The Urga SL 4 is a vehicle in fiction by GMRE.
Description[]
It's a big weaponized snowmobile with a closed and heated cabin. It could be used to patrol wilderness in colder areas where other vehicles would have difficulty in the snow.
In-universe, they new government of Panau purchased a couple dozen of these from Russia in 2018.
There's also an unarmed civilian version.
The SL in the name means "Снежный Лис", which means "Snow fox" in russian.
Performance[]
Slower than a sports snowmobile. The MG can only be operated by someone who stands outside on the back, like the vehicle-mounted heavy machine gun from JC1.
Versions and locations[]
Unarmed civilian version:
- A few are parked at some villas in the mountains. Now that Panau is free, there's more of them.
Panau Military version:
- Used to respond in the mountains, above the snowline, if the enemy is away from roads.
- Can sometimes be seen being transported by truck on the mountain roads.
Trivia[]
- In reality, these are modern Russian military vehicles, used by them to militarize their northern territory. According to some news reports from several years ago, Russia was going to develop military vehicles specially designed to fight in polar regions. For several decades Russia has claimed ownership of a large sector of the north pole, but the UN has not agreed to this. So far Russia has constructed some far north military bases (as if anyone wanted to invade Siberia
), but they haven't gotten to the point where they'd build artificial islands with military outposts, like a certain other nation has.
