After Di Ravello's demise, the New Medici Military sought a new fighter jet to replace their aging fleet of CS7 Thunderhawks and U-7 Dravecs. Several fighters were loaned to the new Medici Air Force, including the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, Chengdu J-20, and Sukhoi Su-57. After several tests, the top air marshals in the new Medici Air Force decided on the F-35 Lightning II and subsequently designated it FJ04.
