This article lists some off-site tools and programs that may be helpful for creating works of fan fiction.
Purpose[]
It's not prohibited to use Microsoft Paint, but that can take a lot of time and skill to make a high quality image. The below is a list of programs that make it easy. Also, keep in mind that the images made with the below programs can be further customized using Paint.
Map making[]
- Azgaar's Fantasy Map Generator - Each time a user arrives there it generates a new map. There's a button at the top left corner that allows for a lot of editing options. Take a screenshot when you're done, because it doesn't save anywhere on its own.
- World Map - Simple - A site that allows the real world map to be custom colored and labelled. The real borders remain on the map.
- Inkarnate - A program that allows the creation of a middle-ages style map that looks hand-drawn. Using the program requires making an account, or signing up with a google, or facebook account.
Weapons[]
- Pimp my gun - A program that allows the user to select real weapon parts from a large number of options and assemble them into a fictional weapon image. The program requires a flash player, so it nolonger works in a browser, but the linked page has instructions to download the program.
