The Solíno Socialist Party is a political party in New and Improved Solís. It was formed in 2019, after the end of the Solíno Civil War. It is a left-wing/far-left party, with socialism, state atheism, progressivism, equality and modernization as its main ideals.
History[]
Origins[]
The party comes from a disbanded group of humanitarian researchers who started investigating the crimes of Espinosa's government. After being first repressed by the police, they suffered a second brutal crackdown during the civil war, and so changed their activity, primarily helping civilians. The Black Hand had burned several civilian villages and killed many people: their new mission was saving as many of them as possible. Soon they started openly helping the Army of Chaos, and were incorporated into its ranks. They weren't a sole organization, but made up of several platoon-like groups. The biggest of these groups was led by a young field surgeon, Albino Zapatero, and was actually more similar to a battalion or even a regiment in size.
Rise in politics[]

Zapatero actually thought of running for P.M. since the war, but only officially created his party in 2019. He soon gathered a lot of supporters, but also many opponents, since the more right-leaning part of the country united in the SNPP. He still won the 2020 general elections by a landslide.
Zapatero's government[]
The new leader started socialist reforms in the economy, reformed the health system and started creating various services around the island. He also built more and better roads connecting villages to major cities, granting them easier access, nationalized education and healthcare, and created both the Solíno Military and the Solíno Police.
Sadly, Zapatero's politics couldn't really help Solís' crippled economy, and the threat of Black Hand guerrillas became unbearable. After several strikes, Zapatero resigned and Mendes took his place. Today, Zapatero is no longer the leader of the party, which is commanded by Feliciano Batista, and lives peacefully as an activist in his home in Villanueva. According to several sources, his house is in the same place where the Brutos boss Hugo Fernandez lived for six years before buying the villa in Ensueño.
Ideologies[]
The SSP had as its main focus bring socialism to Solís, and immediately after granting equal rights and equal duties to everyone. It also promoted atheism and stopped state funding to churches, vowed for progress and modernization, and was progressive in many social fields. It was pro-LGBT, anti-racism and feminist.
