The Solíno National Pride Party (SNPP) is a political party in New and Improved Solís. It was formed in 2020, after the end of the Solíno Civil War. It is a centre-right/right wing party, with conservatism, religion, tradition and national pride as its main ideals.
History[]
Origins[]
The SNPP comes from the right wing organization Cristaos para Solís, which was founded by Christian activists and defected members of the Black Hand in 2018, during the civil war. Its leader was Marco Mendes, an ex-priest who had took up arms to fight the Black Hand. The organization was part of the Army of Chaos and acted as an independent battalion, numbering about 1000 soldiers.
Political career[]

After the war, Mendes decided to run for prime minister, and created his party. He gained a lot of respect thanks to its qualities as a commander and his experience in the war, and promised to restore Solís. This still wasn't enough to get him elected, but he received a good 34.19% of the votes. The SSP won, but his leader Zapatero still couldn't defeat the remaining Black Hand, and Solís failed to recover. So, after huge protests by the population, Zapatero resigned and Mendes was elected in his place.
Mendes' government didn't pursue SSP's socialist goals, instead trying to force capitalism on the island. He managed to partially recover the economy, and also to defeat the remnants of the Black Hand, with a hard bombing campaign and the destruction of several outposts. As the time passed, he also became more and more centrist, so bringing a fragile balance of peace on Solís.
Ideologies[]
Mendes' party was similar to the Italian Fascist Party and modern day American Republican Party. It supported little to no presence of the state, liberal economy, conservatism, traditionalism, the abolition of English as a second unofficial language, space and funding to Christian churches, and big military spending.
