The PacificStar PS.04 Taiphon is a series of small turboprop airliners in Just Cause: Hawaiki.
Description[]
"The PacificStar PS04 Taiphon was a success out of a previously tiny Australian aircraft company. Although not many were sold when compared to other aircraft, PacificStar received great profit from the aircraft, quickly being snapped up by major airlines internationally. It's known for it's reliability and cheap pricing."- In game description.
Appearance[]
It takes the appearance of a small turboprop regional airliner, with a high wing design, with retractable landing gear coming from behind the engines and under the nose.
It seems to be a hybrid between a Fokker 27/50/60 and a Chinese Xian MA60, which in turn is based on an Antonov An-24. It takes design details from other planes too, like engines from a Convairliner and a tail from an Antonov An-140. It is very similar to the SAAS Arrowhead SP-4 in many ways.
Performance[]
It handles and lifts off very smooth and slowly, an easy aircraft to control. It has a moderate top speed (although the speed given isn't the actual speed of the aircraft). It is also extremely easy to land, with forgiving suspension and brakes. It is relatively light meaning it can get stopped and maneuver quickly but smoothly, also requiring only short lengths to take off.
Variants[]
Taiphon 60[]
The Taiphon 60 is the average version of the aircraft, and the most common. It can be used by Hawaikan Airlines or rarely unmarked, common at any airport.
PS4C Transtar[]
This is a military version of the aircraft, based on the civilian Taiphon 60 model. It is recognizable for it's larger doors and camouflaged paint scheme with military insignia. This variant is extremely rare to find in the air but can be common at smaller and more remote airfields. The faction owned version is much more commonly used, featuring in some missions and events. They also drop paratroopers as a form of Faction Support.
Locations[]
- Most paved airports.
- Some dirt runways.
- Air traffic.
- Some military airfields.
- Faction bases.
Trivia[]
- In many ways it serves the same purpose the SAAS Arrowhead SP-4 does for the Hjallesund Isles in Hawaiki, the aircraft almost being siblings (Hjallesund being developed at the same time as Hawaiki).
- It's made by PacificStar.
