North Qafar

The People's Republic of Qafar, or North Qafar, is a former sovereign nation mentioned in an unspecified fan fiction project about a fictional Just Cause 5.

History[]

Following the 1961 revolution that toppled the monarchy, there was growing a communist movement in Qafar and they constantly feuded with the Nasserists who were officially in power. The Nasserist junta regularly targeted communists and even made being communist or at least ideologically left illegal and as according to the Museum of National Heritage, 240,000 people were imprisoned for having leftist sympathies.

It eventually exploded into the Fifth of May revolution in 1965 in the city of Al-Sharma and communist professor Asad Farrah declared a people's republic on the 15th of May becoming the people's republic's first General Secretary. The Fifth of May Revolution started the First Qafari Civil War lasting until 1972.

Omar Khorani, the son of the slain Kashiwite monarch, would join the war on the Nasserist side where he would be honoured as a war hero.

Asad Farrah proved self-centered and incompetent as North Qafar became poorer than their southern neighbor and was heavily reliant on the Soviet Union for support, when South Qafar become a democracy in 1982 the people became disillusioned with the Communist leadership and reforms were introduced in 1984. North Qafar's days were officially numbered as the Soviet Union collapsed and the Cold War came to an end joining the South in 1991 making Qafar a united country again. An unnamed Communist leader can be seen shaking hands with another unnamed politician during the Reunification in the slideshows in the Museum of National Heritage.

Trivia[]
