The Nashorn 7300 is a vehicle in fiction by GMRE and New and Improved Medici.
Description[]
It's a large and strange-looking machine that isn't quite street-legal. Basically it's an experimental vehicle to test a new technology.
Technology[]
Nashorn engineers want to know if it could be feasible to power a vehicle with the heat of lava. The idea is that several nations in the world have active volcanoes, that provide a potentially endless supply of energy in the form of hot lava.
The test vehicle carries with it a giant bucket of lava and uses a stirling engine to power a generator that then powers the electrical engines for propulsion. So in theory, as long as there's a nearby volcano to conveniently refuel the vehicle, this thing should be very simple and certainly the future.
The technology is however still in its infancy, so the machine is quite large (taking up two lanes) and quite slow, similar to a mining/quarry truck.
Performance[]
Slow to accelerate and not too powerful. Thanks to its impressive mass of 130 tons, it has a lot of kinetic energy, but at least it has similarly impressive brakes, so it's no harder to stop than a normal truck.
Locations[]
At this point it's only legal to drive it around at quarries and other restricted compounds. They can be found being driven around by technicians in white coats at the Volcano island in Medici. So if you're planing on moving to that island, it might be a good idea to get yourself a license to operate a mining/quarry truck.
