This project has not been worked on in over a year. As such it unlikely to get finished.

Just Cause: Nuclear Dawn, sometimes abbreviated as JC:ND or JCND, is a made-up video game in the Just Cause Game Series. It is a fan fiction project by User:Anonymous1234abc.

Important note: This entire game along with everything it contains is purely fan fiction. There isn't an actual game called Just Cause: Nuclear Dawn. Everything in Just Cause: Nuclear Dawn does not exist and all events in the game never happened in the actual canon Just Cause Universe.

Info summary[]

Just Cause: Nuclear Dawn is the fifth installment of the Just Cause game series, developed by Avalanche Studios and published by Square Enix. Like the previous Just Cause games, it is an action-adventure game with open-world sandbox gameplay. The story focuses on liberating the country of Torildusta as well as preventing a global nuclear war through the use of time travel. Like previous games, the game is also based on wrecking havoc and causing chaos and destruction. The game was first officially announced on April 1st, 2022. Despite many thinking it was a joke, the game was soon proven to be real. It was released on January 18th, 2023.

Quote from the official Just Cause: Nuclear Dawn site:

"Ever wanted to cause absolute chaos and destruction in your own huge playground? Consider no more. Just Cause: Nuclear Dawn offers explosive sandbox gameplay, ultra-realistic, cutting-edge graphics, a massive and highly detailed open world, and a completely destructible environment for you to wreck havoc upon.

"The world of Torildusta consists of over 3500 square kilometers of playable land, from tropical rainforests to snowy mountains. And to crank the chaos scale to 11, Just Cause: Nuclear Dawn brings back the extreme weather from Just Cause 4. "Admire vibrant rainforests, beautiful snowy mountains, immense stretches of desert and peaceful grasslands. Feast your eyes upon precisely modelled oceans of concrete, steel and glass as well as gorgeously designed rural countryside houses. Watch spectacular fireballs of super-realistic flame explode in front of you.

The story has been more or less abandoned, but the game itself has not.

Gameplay[]

This section is still being organized and may look messy as of now. Once organization is complete, it should be much smaller and link to individual articles dedicated to their respective gameplay elements.

  • The game's Apex 2.0 engine allows for a completely destructible environment, which means everything can be destroyed and the player can theoretically access any point in the game by destroying all obstacles.
  • Rico is, obviously, back.
    • Rico himself can be customized - his jacket, his jeans, his hair and mustache. Age can be selected as well - JC, JC2, JC3, JC4, or JC:ND (default). These are purely cosmetic and do nothing to affect gameplay.
  • His arsenal of the grappler, parachute, wingsuit and the hoverboard from Just Cause 4's Danger Rising DLC has returned, in a remastered and upgraded form.
    • The grappler has been remastered. It is now much more customizable than before, and has many more functions. See the article for more details.
    • Weapons can be customized in a slightly complex customization system. See the article for more details.
    • The parachute is the same as it used to be (with different physics and models), although a separate DLC may be purchased to upgrade it with a jetpack.
    • The wingsuit is customizable as well:
      • Cosmetics can be customized, and the player not only gets to choose the wingsuit skin but also the wingsuit model. There are three models (default (arms to waist), extended (arms to legs) and full-body (arms to legs and another piece of fabric between the legs) ) and twenty skins. More to be added over updates and patches.
      • The booster, missile and machine guns are back, and are included in the base game. Water and vertical take off with the wingsuit are back. These can be upgraded through wingsuit stunts. Rocket booster model can be customized.
    • The hoverboard now has an electromagnetic propulsion boost that propels Rico forwards at a high speed, included in the base game. The boost is much like the wingsuit boost - it can be used for a short duration, but constantly recharges when not in use. Jumping will use some of the boost energy as well. Can be upgraded through the completion of hoverboard stunts.
  • Rico can carry three weapons, two gadgets and his arsenal of the grappler, parachute, wingsuit and hoverboard.
  • The AR scan is actually useful now. There are different modes that when activated do different things:
    • Augmented Reality, which shows crosshair even when not aiming down sights. Also allows the player to identify objects around the world.
    • Night Vision, which is pretty self explanatory. Categorized as a thermal.
    • Infrared, which makes the player see the world in grayscale and highlights warm objects (bodies, vehicles and chaos objects) in bright white. Vision is poor, grainy and distorted, but potential targets can be easily identified. Not a substitute for night vision, as it does not make seeing things easier at night. Categorized as a thermal.
    • Commander Mode, which allows the player to (somewhat) command friendly rebel forces. When commander mode is active, aiming at an area and pressing primary mouse button will make nearby rebels shoot in the general direction for as long as the button is held down. Pressing the secondary mouse button whilst pointing at somewhere will make nearby rebel infantry move to that area, if they can get there.
  • Just Cause Nuclear Dawn introduces gadgets. These are pieces of special equipment to aid the player in whatever situation they might be in. See the article for more information.
  • The main enemy is the Torildustan Military as well as The Agency.
  • The friendly faction is the Torildustan Rebellion.
  • There are a total of 41 weapons, more than any of the previous games. Counting all DLC items, there are a total of 50 weapons. They are categorized into (according to rebel drop):
    • Assault rifles
    • SMGs
    • Carbines
    • Shotguns
    • LMGs
    • DMRs
    • Snipers
    • Pistols
    • Explosives
    • Experimental
    • Mounted
    • Other
  • There are a total of 138 vehicles (not counting variants and different liveries), and 152 counting all DLC items (also excluding variants, liveries etc). This number surpasses the vehicle count of any previous Just Cause game.
  • The playable map is 3542km2 in area, including some empty ocean.
  • Extreme weather has returned, although it is no longer the focus of the game. In some missions and liberations, however, it is scripted to appear. It can also be observed in freeroam. This time, extreme weather is natural and not the result of some weird weather weapon. There are 7 extreme weather events:
    • Tornadoes.
    • Thunderstorms.
    • Sandstorms (only in desert).
    • Hurricanes/typhoons (depending on language).
    • Blizzards (only in alpine region).
    • Tsunamis.
    • Volcanic eruptions (only on Kaboom Island).
