The Império IX-10 was a long range civil airliner built by Império in the early 1980s.
Description[]
The Império IX-10 was an attempt by Império to build a successful long range wide-body airliner in the early 1980s.
Whilst it was a technically advanced airliner, it was so specialized for shorter runways that its overall performance as compared to foreign rivals was lackluster. It went on a large sales tour of the entirety of western Europe and America in 1983, however as it failed to secure any firm orders, it was cancelled in 1985.
Trivia[]
- Its cancellation brought on a long period of financial instability for the Império corporation, and it barely managed to survive, and only lived on through sales of the Império Valente B.2 heavy bomber.
- As a direct impact of its failure, the Império I-11 "Andes" never materialized due to Império not receiving the expected profits from the IX-10.
