The HB-92 Hammerhead is the main assault helicopter of the Black Hand in Just Cause: Volosia.
Appearance[]
The HB-92 Hammerhead is based on the Indian Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Light Combat Helicopter, a multirole attack helicopter in service with both the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army. Don't let the real-life counterpart's name fool you, it is very well-armed and largely designed for anti-infantry and anti-tank roles, while the in-game Hammerhead is even more formidable, equipped with various weapons systems designed to engage any threat the player may face with ease.
Description[]
As older attack helicopters began to show their obsolescence, soon the Black Hand's research and development department was commissioned to create an attack helicopter to replace the aging San Esperito-era Skreemer helicopters. What they created was a beast of an assault gunship, equipped with two variations of missiles and a pair of heavy miniguns, designed for ground strafing to obliterate entire enemy columns of infantry or ground vehicles. With enough armor to withstand heavy anti-aircraft fire for a sustained amount of time before requiring repairs to top it off, this is one of the most powerful helicopters in the game and a formidable foe or valuable ally in the skies of Volosia. Despite its armament and armor however, the helicopter is noticeably slow and not nearly as agile as something like the HB-86 Hunter, due to its size and weight.
Trivia[]
- This helicopter is named after GDI's Hammerhead Gunship from Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath.
