The Democratic Front of San Esperito (Frente democrático de San Esperito, abbreviated to FDSE, colloquially referred to as "El Frente", "the Democratic Front", or just "the Front"), is the leading protagonist faction of Just Cause Rebooted. Their objective is to overthrow Mendoza's military dictatorship and reintroduce democracy to San Esperito.
History[]
In the days following the referendum that allowed Mendoza full control over the military with no government oversight in an ostensible attempt to take down the "terrorist group" behind the attacks on various government buildings, Medina and his colleague Garcia established a small organization consisting of some 20 men in secret to monitor troop movements. Through a variety of sources, as well as a handful of anonymous informants who came forward, Medina and Garcia found out the terrorist group was bogus, that Mendoza was using the attacks as a cover for his true plans, and Medina feared the worst. As a result, he called for the help of the United States government and NATO, who sent a handful of advisors and a small shipment of ammunition.
With the majority of the members being combat veterans who had seen action in Guatemala, Grenada, Cuba, Panama, they were trained to operate weapons and even have some insider information regarding the San Esperito Armed Forces. However, the group was caught off-guard when Mendoza's forces had raided and taken control of the capital. With very little in the way of outside help, and with Garcia seized by government forces, they were approached by the Agency, with Rico Rodriguez in tow, the resident dictator removal specialist.
Objectives and Methods[]
The Democratic Front of San Esperito is a democratic and populist movement by nature. However, in the wake of the coup that gave Mendoza unhindered and absolute control, the Democratic Front had to first remove Mendoza's military dictatorship through the help of Rico Rodriguez. The Democratic Front also seeks to provide humanitarian aid and relief as part of its mission to win over the support of the people of San Esperito and to sway public opinion against Mendoza's actions.
