Deluge Refuge is a mission in Operation Indigo.
Plot[]
The morning after the briefing, Hem, Lee, Mira, Rico, and Tom start planning their first move. Hem mentions that her people are in desperate need of their assistance, but she feels that she would not be accepted after leaving them so long ago. Lee then picks the team up and sends them there anyways as a way to counter her reluctance. When they near the location, Hem gives a detailed introduction to these people.
"They are refugees who hid away from Uzveld to prevent themselves from being killed. She was the one who rallied them together as Silent Refugees of Xembu, with Xembu being the province they are in. It is the only mostly safe province, with the only sign of interference being the local mine."
Lee lands at the camp before she can finish the brief. This prompts Hem to warn the team that they do not take kindly to visitors, since they suspect newcomers to be disguises for the enemies, so she tells them to let her do the talking. The refugees start assuming defensive positions, showcasing their cautious nature. A little child walks up to them, oblivious to the rules, and asks if they want to play. To prove themselves trustworthy, they agree.
The kid is curious, so she asks Rico about the thing on his arm. He tells her what it is, warning her not to play with it, as it can be dangerous. Before he can finish the sentence, the kid moves Rico's arm in a way that activates his grappling hook. To prevent it from hooking into someone, Mira jumps in the way. This action drags her along the ground and almost off a cliff, but Rico retracts it before she can fall into the ravine, saving her. Mira brushes the dirt off and notices a red stain on her shirt. After noticing it, she starts gushing out blood, making Rico regret being close enough to the kid, scaring the latter, and making the locals realize that the newcomers are people (of course with the exception of Lee, who is wind).
After enough blood is lost, she passes out. Hem asks the people if there is a healer, and an elderly woman walks out of the crowd. A man picks her up and carries her to Mira so she can perform on her. The operation requires the nearby water, but there is seemingly none nearby. The healer then clarifies that the abyss has a special type of water that could save Mira's life. Rico is the one closest to this water, but needs a container as a handful is not enough. Lee picks up a pot from a house and gives it to Rico. He scoops it up and rushes (the pot has a lid on it) to Mira. The healer thanks him, then pours it on the wound. This heals the wound instantaneously, restoring her consciousness.
This incident gives the healer a vision of the monthly flood that sweeps the nation, literally. Because of Deliwu's unpredictability, the water shown in her eyes breaks out of her vision and starts flooding the camp. The weird thing is that it goes back into her eyes after she realizes that such an event would not happen. This is because the area is protected against flooding. The monthly flood happens for real after saying that, only this time it does damage to most of the province, excluding the camp.
The healer now feels the need to apologize for their overprotective nature, with the team forgiving them. This is where the mission ends.
