The Chepachet PVD is a military off-road technical from Just Cause 2. It also re-appears in Just Cause: Source.
Appearance[]
Like its iteration in Just Cause 2, the PVD is a large military off-road pick-up with no doors and no roof. It has an angled roof, with a very minimalistic front end, only featuring two circular headlights, a hood with a ram air intake, a rectangular grille, and a rectangular bumper with a winch (which can be used by Alix). Steel reinforcements with side steps are bolted to the sides, as well as two gas cans being held in body-molded holders, a single emergency siren on the top, and a H.U.G.E. 249 is mounted on the rear gun. Unlike JC2, the only camouflage it normally appears in is a green forest-style. It has S.A.F. text on the sides of the bed, with an insignia on each side of the text. The standard version has no manufacturing badges, though it is clearly made by Chepachet.
It has steelie wheels with off-road tires, and the engine bay's detailing is a carbureted, turbocharged V8. The underside modelling seemingly reveals it to be four wheel drive.
Performance[]
Very good for a vehicle of its nature. It has a very low MPG, around 4-5, but it makes up for this by having a fairly large tank and it can make it across most of the area of Boreas before running out of fuel. It has decent acceleration, being able to outdo most common civilian vehicles, and can make it up most inclines and hills with ease. It is very competent off-road, being able to climb most mountainsides without need of a path, but its somewhat low top speed makes it so it can fall off easily from lack of momentum and faster police vehicles at higher heat levels could catch up easily (though an NPC manning the mounted H.U.G.E. could circumvent this). The PVD is further hindered by the brakes being essentially useless, and the steering not being incredibly effective at higher speeds due to the vehicle's extreme weight. On the plus side, its durability makes it so it can withstand very heavy firearm damage, and the tires themselves can survive several shots from assault rifles before popping.
Unique Variants[]
- The version required to be stolen in P.V.D. is uniquely in an orange camouflage with military markings. It also uniquely possesses bulletproof tires.
- In Storming The Castle and Shock And Awe, a unique version with no military markings and a red camouflage pattern is used by the Ministry Guard, as guards for Zach Stevens' mansion and roadblocks/chasers respectively. It can be taken in Shock And Awe, and uniquely, has a larger fuel tank capacity of 70 and is stronger. Also uniquely, the HUGE mounted on the rear does double damage.
Appearances In Missions[]
- The mission P.V.D. is entirely centered around stealing a uniquely colored variant from the Saorsan Police Force. Several are also driven by the SPD while chasing you.
- One is used to breach the gate to Jeremy Goates-Fawker's estate in the mission Grave Robbing.
- Most appear in missions involving the Saorsan Armed Forces as roadblocks.
- During Storming The Castle and Shock And Awe, unique versions are used by the Ministry Guard.
Locations[]
- Unlocked for purchase from the Black Market for $15,000 after completing P.V.D.
- It does not spawn in the Boreas region, though it can be found on the borders entering it.
- Most Fork and Deep Forest cities and towns in the will have at least one driving around or parked, as peace keeping enforcement.
- Almost every military base or outpost in the Fork and Deep Forest regions will have one driving around it or parked in front of it. The most egregious is Stanza 3, in which 4 of the 6 vehicles at the base are PVDs.
- At Heat level 3 and 4, the SAF come after you in them at varying quantities. At Heat level 5, they are replaced by Secret Police.
- Colonel Meyn at Glacyre Crest mans a PVD when you reach his area. The HUGE on his variant does double damage.
- Several are at the military section of Port Imhotep.
- A few can occasionally spawn at the Red Star Power Station.
Trivia[]
- If the game is actually released, this vehicle won't be in it because it's a copyrighted product. It is unknown at the time what will replace it.
