They were composed of ex-Black Hand soldiers who were disillusioned with the new Army of Chaos government.
They created a zombie virus which accidentally got spilled and released into the world.
Many of their members were composed of Titans, but they included other ex-Black Hand elements as well.
By Chapter XLIII: Profundity, they were all defeated/killed.
