The Armed Forces of the Republic of Panau is one of the main factions in Just Cause: Panauan Hope and Just Cause: Panauan Contingency.

History

The Armed Forces of the Republic of Panau (which also may be called the "Panau Military" or the "Panauan Military,") is the military to the Republic of Panau. The Armed Forces of the Republic of Panau served under Presidents Fadil Baswedan, Pandak "Baby" Panay, Papa Panay, and the presidents before him. While not much is known about the military's history before Papa Panay, the military has gone under numerous reforms under all three presidents.

Early 2000's-2008 / Papa Panay's Administration

The Armed Forces of the Republic of Panau had less than decent organization, average order and discipline, more-than-decent military personnel regulations, and was generally seen as a reputable military. The leadership of the Panauan Armed Forces, however, did range to varying degrees in terms of regulatory obedience and leadership skills. The people of Panau, however, did not mind the Panauan military too much.

The operations of the Panauan Armed Forces focused mostly on maintaining peace and proper order for the Panauan public. It did alarm the Panauan public with the disannulment of Panau Police Department, but it was made clear that PPD personnel would be integrated into the Panauan Armed Forces to serve as Military Police. The action was made unpopular to the Panauan people, but peace and general order to society was maintained.

While Papa Panay had friendly ties with the United States Government, he aimed to improve those relations to be even stronger. Very early in 2006, Papa Panay and his highest ranking officers of the Panauan Army, Navy, and Air Force, coordinated with representatives of the United States Government and the Department of Defenseand scored an opportunity for 300 Panauan military personnel to participate in the 2006 Taliban Offensive. Additionally, in the following year, Papa Panay announced to the United States that they were going to be offering 400 Panauan troops to participate in Operation Enduring Freedom - Philippines.

In 2008. the Panauan Military was offering to assist any South East Asian countries that were in need of peace keeping operations and help with border security,

2008 / Pandak "Baby" Panay's Administration

2008

The Armed Forces of the Republic of Panau fell under Pandak Panay's control and reign of power. Pandak Panay withdrew any and all externally deployed military personnel from Afghanistan, the Philippines, and other countries. Subsequentially, Pandak Panay severed any and all ties remaining with the United States and other allies such as Russia and China. The Panauan Military was then ordered to police the Panauan People and designated the Panauan Navy (and in extension - the Panauan Marine Corps,) to do maritime border security.

Pandak Panay wanted to open Panau up to foreign entities for tourism and investments, but also ordered the Panauan Armed Forces to keep the Panauan people in check and regulated. Because of this, the factions known as the Reapers, the Roaches, and the Ular Boys, grew in popularity. Even though the factions were small enough to be designated as inconsequential to the Panauan military and overall government, the Panauan military had strict "kill on sight" orders to anyone wearing gang colors or open affiliation.

The Panauan military started checking the Panauan People's documents at any available checkpoint within the country, which served as an annoyance to the people. The Panauan military was also authorized with question-free "stop and frisk" orders. Pandak Panay also lowered the military age to 17 years of age and banned women from combat and policing roles.

2009

The Panauan military started working with the Panauan Secret Service to conduct "population filtering" to find spies, honeypots, and other people who "perverted the integrity of the Panauan Government." Around this time, Pandak Panay ordered the shutdown of the Panau Falls Casino - although for an undisclosed period- to conduct a thorough investigation for financial and improper misconduct. It did not take long for the Panauan Military to locate Karl Blaine - who was addicted to alcohol and gambling - while they were conducting their investigation. However, the Panauan Military did receive a tip for an "out of place individual" who was armed.

The Panauan military took Karl Blaine to the Panauan Secret Service, where he was questioned and interrogated extensively. Karl spilled his guts, ratting on everyone working for the Agency out, and disclosed what he knew about Agency operations. Karl's confession caused Pandak Panay to fortify himself around fortified points and locations within Panau and move when specific protocols were met. Karl's confession also led to the Panauan Military forwarding intel to the Panauan Secret Service in order to capture Jade Tan.

Over the course of 2009, the Panauan Military was taking heavy damage and losses to their national critical infrastructure and military property. Because Karl revealed names, operations, and events, Pandak Panay was able to forward this information down the chain of command. It allowed the Panauan military to identify Agent Rodriguez easily, alongside his affiliations with criminal factions. Even with the preparations for the Panauan Military, Agent Rodriguez and the criminal factions continued to take over major military bases and other forms of property.

When Agent Rodriguez was notified of Agent Tan's location, he flew into the Kastelo Singa military base, where the Panauan military would continue to take heavy losses in property and personnel. The Panauan Secret Service attempted to escort Agent Tan to the U1 Submarine they had nearby in the frozen base lake, but the Panauan Military eventually lost custody of Agent Tan. Agent Tan being secured by the Agency infuriated Pandak Panay, and they ordered more of the population to enlist and find Agent Tan alongside Agent Rodriguez.

The Panauan Military was ordered to investigate a terrorist attack at the Three Kings Hotel, which was eventually discovered to be Agent Rodriguez's doing. With three foreign diplomats dead, Pandak Panay knew he had to face Agent Rodriguez himself. Pandak ordered the corresponding government agency to prepare his nuclear arsenal and wanted more of his military to prepare for further escalation. However, Rico was already raiding his compound in the Selatan Archipelago before he knew it.

The Panauan Military and the Panauan Secret Service tried their best to defend the Wajah Ramah Fortress in the Selatan Archipelago, but Agent Rodriguez and his affiliates in the criminal factions were too strong, even for them. When Agent Rodriguez eventually did bust his way into the Wajah Ramah Fortress, Pandak Panay was fully expecting to see him again. However, to Pandak's surprise, Karl Blaine snuck up behind him and attempted to assassinate him with a fragmentation grenade. Somehow, Pandak Panay survived Karl's double suicide and was taken to the U1 Submarine while being escorted by the Panauan Secret Service.

Rico was eventually able to locate Pandak Panau once more, where he and Agent Rodriguez fought to the death. Pandak was equipped with a rocket launcher, and Agent Rodriguez was equipped with the weapons he utilized before the Agency assigned him to this mission. After the final battle, Agent Rodriguez killed off the remaining Panauan Secret Service members within the U1 Submarine. Agent Rodriguez located Pandak Panay slouched against his chair and confronted him. Pandak Panay revealed that he had a detonator and explained how he was going to nuke the United States, describing the country as a "wart on the face of the planet." Not only was he going to nuke the United States, but he was also going to nuke the Russian Federation and Japan. Revealing the detonator, Pandak Panay got up from his chair and slowly made his way to a ladder. Agent Rodriguez watched him as he limped made his way to the latter, punched a glass display case with an HK 416 Assault Rifle, and tried to climb the ladder.

Agent Rodriguez drew his signature revolver and shot Pandak Panay in the back as he was climbing the latter, causing him to fall down the latter and back to the floor. He then walked to Pandak Panay, kicked the detonate away from his reach, and taunted him by mentioning a broken back instead of broken fingers. Agent Rodriguez took the detonator and climbed the latter and climbed out of the U1 submarine, where he found an abandoned UH-10 Chippewa attack helicopter, which suggested that someone arrived after the attack in an attempt to save Pandak Panay from Agent Rodriguez. Agent Rodriguez took the helicopter, flew away to a safe distance, and detonated the tactical nukes. However, because they were poorly maintained, the explosion was not as large as expected, and the damage was not as significant as predicted.

The Panauan military was temporarily blinded and deafened by a loud explosion at nearby naval stations and other military bases. Due to the nuclear bombs being tactical nukes and the Panauan government not maintaining them properly, the explosion was large but not massive. The nuclear fallout was not as significant as it was expected to be. The water absorbed the blast, the oil fields were initially expected to be completely decimated, and the radiation fallout lingered for at most a couple of years.

Uniforms of the Panauan Army

This uniform is issued to military members in the Panauan Army that are stationed in the Lautan Lama Desert's geographic region, as well as the lower half of the Panau Tengah Bay,

This uniform is issued to military members of the Panauan Army that are stationed in either East or West Tanah Raya's geographic region, as well as the upper half of the Panau Tengah Bay.

This uniform is issued to military members of the Paauan Army that are stationed in the Berawan Besar Mountains' geographic region.

This military uniform is issued to military members of the Panauan Army who are stationed in the Pelaut Archipeago, the Senjakala Islands, or the Selatan Archipelago.

This uniform is issued to members of the Panauan Navy who are stationed in the Lautan Lama Desert's geographical region.

This uniform is issued to members of the Panauan Navy who are stationed in East or West Tanah Raya and the entirety of the Panau Tengah Bay.

This uniform is issued to members of the Panauan Navy who are stationed in the Selatan Archipealho, the Pelaut Archipelago, and the Senjakala Islands.

Uniforms of the Singa Hitam*

*This is an illegally ran paramilitary faction ran by Kolonel Agung at the Paya Luas Panauan Air Force Base, and is severely loosely connected to the Armed Forces of the Republic of Panau unofficially.

A uniform typically worn by the Milisi Sawah (Sawah Militia) and the Singa Hitam (Black Lion) paramilitary group.

Notes

Panaun military personnel who have either been displaced from their home stations in the Selatan Archipelago, the Senjakala Islands, and the geographical East Tanah Raya, Panau Tengah Bay, and the Pelaut Archipelago, are still required to wear the uniforms that represent the area they are stationed in. For example, a Panauan Airman from the Senjakala Islands is required (by regulations) to wear their blue tiger stripe camoflauge uniform, even if they are in the Lautan Lama Desert. However, Panauan military personnel who decided to defect to the Senja Selatan are no longer required to wear their Panauan Army, Air Force, or Navy uniforms, as they opted to wear the uniforms of the Armed Forces of the Senja Selatan.

The Federal Government of the Republic of Panau prohibits its members from wearing the uniforms of the Armed Forces of the Senja Selatan with the intentions to attack or sabotage enemy property or personnel, as it is a war crime. It must be noted that the Armed Forces of the Senja Selatan follows this same law of war, and only prohibits its members from doing the same.

The Republic of Panau produces its own uniforms for its troops. They also accept donations from foreign countries for uniform donates.

Military Training Ribbons

The Defender of Panau Ribbon is earned when a trainee successfully graduates from basic training.

The Military Instructor Ribbon is earned when a non-commissioned officer (in any branch) becomes a military instructor or drill instructor.

The Panauan Navy Ribbon is earned when a recruit graduates from the Panauan Naval Training Academy.

The Panauan Army Ribbon is earned when a recruit graduates from the Panauan Army Training Command.

The Panauan Air Force Ribbon is earned when a recruit graduates Panauan Air Force Training Command.

The Pilot Training Qualification Ribbon is earned when eligible military personnel completed pilot training for their assigned aircraft.

The Panauan Small Arms Qualification Ribbon is earned when Panauan military personnel qualify on small arms.

The Panauan Small Arms Marksman Ribbon is earned when Panauan military personnel not only qualify on their small arms, but shoot their targets accurately enough to be deemed as a marksman.

Service Ribbons

The Panauan Armed Forces - Active Duty Live Exercise Ribbon is earned when military personnel in an Active Duty capacity are participating in a live military exercise.

The Panauan Armed Forces - Reserve Live Exercise Ribbon is earned when military personnel in the Reserves are participating in a live military exercise.

The Panauan Armed Forces - National Guard Live Exercise Ribbon is earned when military personnel in the National Guard are participating in a live military exercise.

Combat and Honorific Ribbons

The Combat Engagement Ribbon is earned when Panauan Military personnel are actively engaged or are participating in combat or other closely relevant life-threatening situations.

The Combat Sacrifice Ribbon is earned by Panauan Military personnel who have been shot, wounded, burned, or are found to be negatively effected in combat or other lethal military operations.

The Panauan Sacrifice Ribbon is earned when eligible military personnel are found to have been extensively wounded, rendered extensively disabled, or passed away as a result of their military service.

Promotion Ribbons

The Panaian Air Force NCO Ribbon is earned when a Panauan Airman earns the rank of "Korpral Dua."

The Panauan Air Force Senior NCO Ribbon is earned when a Panauan Airman earns the rank of "Sersan Dua."

The Panauan Army NCO Ribbon is earned when a Panauan Soldier earns the rank of "Korpral Dua."

The Panauan Senior NCO Ribbon is earned when a Panauan Soldier earns the rank of "Sersan Dua."
